Fall Into Fabulous: Etiquette as a Way of Life

IMG_4971Good-bye Summer. Hello “Fall Into Fabulous” – my theme as we head into our next season! There are endless ways to be our fabulous selves and meet our goals – whether personal or professional. When all elements of our image – our appearance, grooming, body language and etiquette – work harmoniously, they help in the achievement of our goals. This blog post is dedicated to the topic of “etiquette” and the incredible impact it has in our lives.

When we hear the word “etiquette”, stuffy and rigid rules of how to behave may come to mind. But etiquette is not about “rules” – it is about buildingĀ positive, productive and powerful relationships – in life and in business – and building our confidence and credibility. In business, when we buildĀ such relationships, prosperity also follows! But the relationships that we form go beyond ourselves and others.

Etiquette is a way of life. It has to do with how we think, feel, speak, act, and impact others. It is about our relationship to ourselves, to others, and to all “things” in our lives. It takes into account our connection – or sometimes, disconnection – to our environment and the world around us. Etiquette relates to how we live and the daily blessings and graces in our lives. I see it in the art I view, taste it in the food I eat, savour it in the wine I drink, absorb it in the cultures I experience, and feel it in the relationships that I form.Think about something so powerful in your life that you truly related to – was it another person? Was it art? Was it food? How did you feel? React? What impact did it have in your life, and then, based on your experience, how did you impact the lives of others?

To stand before Michelangelo’s “David” is breath-taking; to view Raphael’s tomb at the Pantheon is like time-standing-still; to visit the ruins at Pompeii is spell-binding; to eat that perfect bowl of risotto with a glass of rose, divine! These are my recent “life” experiences where etiquette and relationships – to myself, others, art, food, wine, culture – had a significant impact. This is why I love etiquette and how it is a way of life for me. How is it a way of life for you? I’d love to hear from you!
